Perhaps, a way to “honor” Steve Jobs would be for the millions of entrepreneurs with crazy dreams they believe can change the world… to do just that.
To be inspired by his life. To act in our own.
Let the “artist” in you shine through your work: Steve Jobs created devices with exquisite artistic design - even the box that they come in! Permitting the “artist” in him to explore (one of his only college courses in the one semester he spent there was in calligraphy) - resulted in him creating the first computer “fonts.”
Ask yourself often what would be truly exciting and useful and inspiring for those you serve (your market / customers / company) and then if you don’t know “how” to do it, find friends with expertise and lock yourself in the garage (as he did starting Apple) and create something new and beautiful.
Stay fresh and new so you can recognize both needs and desires of your market - sometimes before they realize how much they need it themselves! There were personal computers and digital music devices before Steve came along, but he touched something inside us and made us want to “play” with him and explore. And soon it became a change in how we compute, listen to music and look to our phone to do for us.
When faced with an uncertain future, he continued on with his vision, creating and growing and even preparing his company to continue beyond his stay on earth. He didn’t give up. He stayed fresh.
I didn’t know Steve Jobs, but he touched me deeply with his life and accomplishments. I’m almost shocked by how moved I am by his passing, and I honor his passion finding myself wanting to rededicate myself to my own.
Thank you Steve.
